Spode Wedding Cup
This lovely white and blue wedding cup from the Spode Judaica collection adds a sweet touch to any wedding ceremony. With an inscription of the Hebrew of “I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine” on the inside, other motifs are the scroll work, floral design, and stars of David. The Spode collection offers matching pieces for any celebration of Jewish life.
In 1770, Josiah Spode established his ceramic and pottery business in Stoke-on-Trent, England. By 1785, he perfected the process for blue underglaze printing on earthenware from hand-engraved copper plates. The company archives preserve his designs and molds, allowing for the introduction of new pieces and themes every year. The design of the Spode Judaica collection is based on Jewish manuscripts from the 1880s and early ceramic tiles.
